Another four innings vs. Tigers Crochet didn't factor into the decision Friday against Detroit, allowing four hits and a walk over four scoreless innings. He struck out six.
Impact Crochet's workload decreased dramatically down the stretch, though he was still impressive in limited work, allowing just one run over 12 innings in his final three outings. It was a breakthrough season overall for the left-hander, who proved to be one of the White Sox's few bright spots. Crochet will finish the year at 6-12 with a 3.58 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 209:33 K:BB across 146 innings.

SEPTEMBER 28 • ROTOWIRE
Dazzles in four-inning start Crochet allowed one hit and struck out eight without walking a batter over four scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Friday.
Impact Crochet's workload limit continues to shrink -- he threw 38 of 52 pitches for strikes in this impressive but short outing. He's reached four innings in seven of his 12 outings since he was placed on a pitch count, but he hasn't gone farther over that span. Overall, Crochet has a 3.68 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 203:32 K:BB through 142 innings over 31 starts. His last outing is projected to be a home start versus the Angels next week, though he shouldn't be expected to throw more than 50 pitches or last long enough to qualify for a win.
SEPTEMBER 21 • ROTOWIRE
Suffers 12th loss Crochet (6-12) took the loss Friday, allowing one run on three hits and no walks over four innings against Oakland. He struck out four.
Impact The Chicago southpaw was saddled with his third straight loss despite this solid 56-pitch performance as his innings continue to be limited while the season winds down. Crochet has not reached the fifth inning in his last 12 starts, as he sets a career high in innings pitched with each out he makes. Things haven't been pretty over those dozen outings either. The 25-year-old has gone 0-6 with a 5.89 ERA and 1.53 WHIP across 36.2 innings over that span. He is currently projected to make his next short start against the Angels on the road next week.

Lasts two innings Saturday Crochet (6-11) allowed four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out three over two innings to take the loss versus the Red Sox on Saturday.
Impact Crochet's workload continues to drop as part of the White Sox's plan to trim his innings. He wasn't particularly good in this game either -- he needed 51 pitches to get through two frames, laboring through a four-run first inning by Boston. While he's maintained a 3.83 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 191:32 K:BB over 134 innings across 29 starts this season, his current workload all but guarantees he won't pitch deep enough to be eligible for wins unless he's ultra-efficient. His next start is projected to be at home versus the Athletics, but Crochet has limited fantasy utility over the remainder of 2024.
SEPTEMBER 8 • ROTOWIRE
Big strikeout numbers in loss Crochet (6-10) allowed one run on three hits while striking out eight over 3.1 innings in a loss to the Mets on Sunday.
Impact Crochet struck out the first seven batters he faced and saw the minimum through three innings. Francisco Lindor opened up the fourth with a home run Crochet wasn't afforded the opportunity to finish the inning after allowing two more base hits and eventually being pulled with one out in the inning after throwing just 57 pitches. The hard throwing lefty still hasn't reached five innings in a start since June 30, but he now has 21 strikeouts over his last 11.1 innings. For the year, Crochet owns a 3.61 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 188:31 K:BB in 132 innings. He lines up to make his next start on the road against the Red Sox over the weekend.
SEPTEMBER 1 • ROTOWIRE
Making next start Sunday Crochet is scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Mets at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Impact Even though Crochet tossed just four pitches in his most recent start Tuesday against the Rangers prior to the game being suspended due to inclement weather, the White Sox still treated it as a full turn through the rotation. He'll return to the mound Sunday on four days' rest, but despite his light usage Tuesday, Crochet shouldn't be expected to work deep into his upcoming outing. Over his last nine starts, Crochet hasn't covered more than four innings in any outing and owns a 5.93 ERA and 1.61 WHIP during that stretch.

Throws four pitches, next start TBD Crochet threw four pitches in his start Tuesday against the Rangers before the game was suspended due to inclement weather.
Impact The White Sox and Rangers will resume the suspended game as part of a doubleheader Wednesday, but Crochet isn't expected to be available for either contest after he went through a full warmup before Tuesday's contest was called in the top of the first inning. Per LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune, Chris Flexen is slated to "start" in the resumption of the suspended game Wednesday, while the White Sox are likely to treat the originally scheduled game as a bullpen day. The White Sox haven't revealed when Crochet might pitch next, but assuming he sticks to his usual four-day rest schedule, he would tentatively line up to make his next start Sunday versus the Mets. Crochet has now covered four innings or less in each of his last nine starts, making it difficult to extract much fantasy value from him.
AUGUST 28 • ROTOWIRE
Fans four in four-inning start Crochet allowed two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out four batters over four innings in a no-decision against San Francisco on Wednesday.
Impact White Sox interim manager Grady Sizemore announced Wednesday that Crochet will be be on a workload limit for the rest of the campaign, so it's no surprise that he was pulled after four innings consisting of 57 pitches Wednesday. The left-hander may have gone a bit longer, though, if he hadn't faded in his final frame, allowing a pair of runs on three hits after beginning his outing with three scoreless, one-hit innings. Crochet did manage a healthy 11 whiffs despite his low pitch count, and his four punchouts pushed him to 180 on the campaign. He still has a good chance to reach 200 strikeouts by the end of the season, but even that's not a given since Sizemore said Wednesday that Crochet's workload could "slowly decrease" as the season winds down.

Impact Crochet hasn't thrown more than four innings in any start since the beginning of July and has a high pitch count of 77 across his last six outings. While it does not appear the White Sox plan to completely shut him down at any point, the severely curtailed workload leaves Crochet unusable in virtually every fantasy format. Those in standard redraft leagues should feel comfortable cutting the lefty loose, if they haven't already.
AUGUST 21 • ROTOWIRE
Dominates in short outing Crochet allowed a run on four hits over four innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out nine during the victory against Houston.
Impact Crochet coughed up a run in the third inning but managed to produce a ridiculous 17 whiffs on just 55 pitches. Of those 17 swinging strikes, 11 came via the four-seam fastball, which averaged 97.7 mph. Crochet seems to be on a strict innings limit as he hasn't thrown more than four innings in any start since the beginning of July. During that span, he's posted a 6.17 ERA while punching out 35 batters across 23.1 frames. His next start is lined up to be in San Francisco, where he likely won't pitch deep enough for a potential win.

Clobbered by Cubs Crochet (6-9) took the loss Friday as the White Sox fell 7-6 to the Cubs, coughing up seven runs on nine hits -- including four home runs -- over 2.1 innings. He struck out five wi...
Impact The southpaw did manage to generate 15 swinging strikes among his 67 pitches (45 total strikes), but Crochet got tattooed when he left the ball over the plate as he served up multiple homers for the first time since April 19. The White Sox are trying to limit his workload over the final months of a lost season, but Crochet seems to be fading regardless -- he hasn't worked more than four innings in any of his last six outings, but has an 0-3 record, 6.98 ERA, 1.81 WHIP and 26:10 K:BB through 19.1 innings to show for it. His fantasy value is questionable as long as the ChiSox continue with their current plan for him, as he has almost no chance at a win unless the team decides to try using an opener ahead of him, with a strong K/9 being his only real asset. Crochet lines up to make his next start on the road next weekend in Houston.

AUGUST 4 • MLB.COM
Goes just four frames Saturday Crochet allowed one run on one hit and four walks while striking out two batters over four innings in a no-decision against Minnesota on Saturday.
Impact Crochet gave up only one hit (though it was a solo homer), but he struggled with his control, throwing just 43 of 77 pitches for strikes and issuing a season-high four walks. That likely was a major factor in the left-hander getting pulled after four frames, though it can't be glossed over that he's thrown nearly 100 more innings this season than he did in 2022 (when he missed the entire campaign) and 2023 combined. The White Sox stated in late July that they don't intend to shut down Crochet or move him to the bullpen, but he hasn't pitched more than four innings or thrown more than 77 pitches in any of his past five starts while experiencing a clear downturn in his performance. His season numbers (3.19 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, 162 Ks) are still great, but Crochet's fantasy managers should anticipate a managed workload moving forward, and those in redraft leagues may want to consider getting what they can for him rather than waiting for a bounce-back.
