The rebranding on Zen Space Desks to Stando in 2024 caused significant confusion for customers of the standing desk manufacturer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With online speculation that Zen Space Desks had gone out of business or pulled an exit scam \u2014 many people were worried about being able to claim against their warranty, source replacement parts or fix technical issues with their desks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My investigation has uncovered what actually happened to Zen Space Desks, how the rebrand to Stando affects warranties, and how the two company\u2019s offerings differ.<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

What Happened To Zen Space Desks?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Zen Space Desks started in 2016 in Brisbane, founded by Lewis Back, who is the company\u2019s Managing Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the current Stando website \u2018About us\u2019 page, Lewis has penned an introductory message explaining his journey from QUT business student to standing desk business owner, selling direct to market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He describes a growing business that was able to move into commercial sales and capitalise on the COVID-19 move to remote work by “supplying tens of thousands of staff working from home\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Going by customer reviews online, the second half of 2023 saw the company experience a number of supply issues that led to delays, poor communication, and cancelled orders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One reviewer wrote in September \u201823: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, in early 2024, there was a mysterious period of non-communication \u2014 when the Zen Space Desks website went dark and emails weren\u2019t being answered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customers were understandably annoyed and upset, fearing the business may have collapsed.<\/em><\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

It seems many were left unable to get support, repairs or refunds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One Reddit user posted in April that they were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEffectively left with a non-functioning desk due to poor timing between their delivery of the desk, and their disappearance.\u201d <\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The user claims to have contacted NSW Fair Trading, who were also unable to reach anyone from the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It turns out, the business still lives, and has been operating again under the Stando name since June 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his \u2018About us\u2019 message on the Stando site, founder Lewis Back doesn\u2019t provide any explanation for the transition to Stando, or the months of radio silence customers experienced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the good news is that Stando has committed to providing warranty support for Zen Space Desks customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
