I\u2019ve been reviewing standing desks for nearly 5 years &#8211; and I\u2019ve deliberately avoided the <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow noindex\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"SecretLab Magnus Pro\" href=\"https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/recommends\/secretlab-magnus-pro\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Magnus Pro<\/a>. Removing the MAGPAD will further tone down its youthful vibe.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently retailing for $1,319 (though often on sale for between $1,099 &#8211; $1,218), the <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow noindex\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"SecretLab Magnus Pro\" href=\"https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/recommends\/secretlab-magnus-pro\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Secretlab Magnus Pro<\/a> is a masterclass in direct-to-consumer marketing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While most standing desk manufacturers spruik the same generic features (dual motors and 35mm\/second lifting speed &#8211; yawn), Secretlab wants you to &#8220;build your dream battlestation&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the desk backs up the sleek marketing with serious ergonomic and mechanical chops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"arrow-wrapper\"><div class=\"arrow-list\"><ul><li><strong>First<\/strong>, you get best-in-class assembly experience. Yes, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">experience<\/span><\/em>. Not <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">process<\/span><\/em>. I explain the difference below.<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"arrow-wrapper\"><div class=\"arrow-list\"><ul><li><strong>Second<\/strong>, I couldn&#8217;t fault the desk&#8217;s mechanics. Everything feels rock-solid, there&#8217;s minimal wobble (even at the tallest heights), and every touchpoint reinforces the sense that this is a premium product.<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"arrow-wrapper\"><div class=\"arrow-list\"><ul><li><strong>Third<\/strong>, the aesthetics. Ah yes, the aesthetics. It will polarise people &#8211; but that&#8217;s a feature, not a bug. Most people will dislike it, but this means a select few will adore it.<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ll admit that I enjoyed the desk&#8217;s appearance a lot more than I thought I would.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m almost 45. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This means I&#8217;m far outside of Secretlab&#8217;s demographic, and I definitely won&#8217;t be accessorising my Magnus Pro with multi-colour LED light strips and Warhammer desk mats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"indent-wrapper\"><div class=\"indented-text\"><span>But one should not rule out this desk based on age alone. <\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The included MAGPAD, with its brash logos, is a key reason for the desk&#8217;s youthful vibe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remove it, and you&#8217;re left with an industrial-looking, edgy, all-metal desk that will appeal to photographers, film directors and video producers in their 40s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"arrow-wrapper\"><div class=\"arrow-list\"><ul><li><strong>Last but not least<\/strong> &#8211; Secretlab&#8217;s power management system is unbelievably good. <\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s even better than <a href=\"https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/updown-desk-review\/\">UpDown&#8217;s latest under-desk power management tray<\/a>. On par with premium standing desks on the market.<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><strong>Warranty Length:<\/strong>&nbsp;5 years is acceptable, but significantly shorter than the industry standard of 10 years.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><strong>Edgy Aesthetic.<\/strong> The only standing desk in Australia with real personality. I can&#8217;t see the aesthetic winning over many women, or men in their 40s.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><strong>Class-Leading Cable Management.<\/strong> The integrated power management system is the best on the Australian market.<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><strong>Not For Wood Lovers.<\/strong> Magnus Pro offers you any desktop material you want, as long as it&#8217;s metal.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who Should Buy The Secretlab Magnus Pro?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Gamers will love it, obviously. So will younger men outside the corporate world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"indent-wrapper\"><div class=\"indented-text\"><span>Women? Probably not.<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>I can see some older men (like me, ha) choosing it, too &#8211;  but only if they work in creative fields. Magnus Pro&#8217;s raw, industrial look will look great in converted warehouse-style open-plan offices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The desk&#8217;s power management system will appeal to people who love a clean, tidy setup. If messy cables make you feel unproductive, this is a great choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, at ~$1,200, this is definitely not a desk for bargain hunters who want a cheap and cheerful standing desk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:60px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5 Things I Love About The <strong>Secretlab<\/strong> Magnus Pro.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Magnus Pro is the only electric standing desk available from Secretlab. You can order it in either a 150 x 70 cm or 177 x 80 cm size. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The latter, although visually impressive, will be too bulky for most home offices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:61px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. Indifference isn\u2019t an option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"indent-wrapper\"><div class=\"indented-text\"><span>The design is simultaneously sleek, understated and bold.<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure whether it would look better in John Wick&#8217;s basement or on the bridge of the Death Star.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Either way, the Magnus Pro is not a functional standing desk. Rather, it wants to be a centrepiece of your WFH setup. One that oozes attitude. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Augments your identity, even.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The all-metal construction certainly lends the desk a distinctive personality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Thankfully, the desktop is not 100% metal &#8211; rather, MDF encased in steel &#8211; otherwise it&#8217;d be far heavier than the already porky 25.5 kg. It&#8217;s built to last.<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Every part feels rock solid and expensive to the touch. This is rare in the Australian market. It doesn\u2019t affect stability, just aesthetics. Secretlab makes it part of the experience.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I rarely talk about assembly in my standing desk reviews because it&#8217;s a one-time task. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even if it&#8217;s remarkably pleasant or terrible, I don&#8217;t believe it&#8217;s a valid reason to choose or disqualify a desk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I had to make an exception with the Magnus Pro. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because it&#8217;s the only standing desk on the Australian market that thought about assembly UX in such detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"indent-wrapper\"><div class=\"indented-text\"><span>Secretlab makes assembly feel intentional &#8211; almost ceremonial.<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>It begins with the dramatic packaging. Did the company overspend on design and cut corners on electronics?
