You can create a custom \u2018job\u2019 for each project\/service that links to associated transactions, costs and time.<\/li><li><strong>Payroll<\/strong> is another area where MYOB is a smarter choice. You\u2019ll pay over 50% more each month for a Xero plan that allows you to process payroll for 20 people, compared to MYOB.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Businesses<\/strong> that need basic \u2018stock on hand\u2019 reporting (e.g., retail, wholesale and manufacturing). MYOB Business\u2019 built-in inventory management has more to offer.<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Having said that, Xero\u2019s offering is strong, and it\u2019s typically viewed as the more integration-friendly platform. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You get access to a huge library of 1,000+ third-party apps. Everything from CRMs, credit card payments, and direct debit management is on the menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, while <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow noindex\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Xero Accounting\" href=\"https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/recommends\/xero-accounting\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Xero&#8217;s inventory management<\/a> features are weaker than MYOB&#8217;s, you can easily link a purpose-built inventory app like Cin7 (inventory management with a built-in POS &amp; EDI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the focus on integrations can also be a pain point, because:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"arrow-wrapper\"><div class=\"arrow-list\"><ul><li><strong>You\u2019ll<\/strong> have to cough up more dough. MYOB\u2019s menus and interfaces felt cleaner and more logical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"indent-wrapper\"><div class=\"indented-text\"><span><em>But for mobile-friendly accounting, Xero has the edge. Its plans are all 100% browser-based with data stored in the cloud.<\/em><\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>And its \u2018Xero Accounting for business\u2019 native mobile app is intuitive and gives you access to all the basics you&#8217;ll need on the go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can check your balances and P&amp;L, send invoices, reconcile bank transactions, and track receipts and expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, MYOB offers multiple native apps for different purposes, and they\u2019re somewhat buggy and restricted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its app for capturing receipt info on-the-go is handy, but two of its other apps (for invoicing\/payments and time tracking for employees) have user ratings below 2 stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"indent-wrapper\"><div class=\"indented-text\"><span><em>Fortunately, you can easily access MYOB on any mobile, tablet, or laptop. But you\u2019ll be forced to switch to the desktop version for multi-currency transactions, advanced inventory and time billing.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>That could limit your flexibility once your business has expanded to the point where you\u2019re trading internationally or have complicated supply chains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Data can be presented differently via desktop too, which might take some getting used to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, AccountRight only runs on desktops with a Windows operating system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mac users will need to either switch to PC, use a tool like Boot Camp, or use a virtual machine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The latter is easy enough to install and use, but does create another layer of onboarding and training complexity in your business. And added cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"indent-wrapper\"><div class=\"indented-text\"><span><em>However, the combined cost of an annual subscription to AccountRight Plus ($1,350\/year) and Parallels virtual machine ($115\/year) is still $95 cheaper than the annual cost of Xero\u2019s comparable Ultimate 10 plan.<\/em><\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Invoicing And Payments.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>MYOB<\/strong><\/td><td>9\/10<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Xero:<\/strong><\/td><td>9\/10<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Xero and MYOB both do a decent job of streamlining invoicing, so you can issue professional, branded invoices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also automatically remind people to pay on time. And it has some nifty features like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"arrow-wrapper\"><div class=\"arrow-list\"><ul><li><strong>The ability<\/strong> to customise which columns\/fields are shown, so you can simplify your screen.<\/li><li><strong>A detailed<\/strong> history to track edits and exactly when a customer received\/viewed your invoice.<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s what stood out about <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow noindex\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"MYOB Accounting\" href=\"https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/recommends\/myob-accounting\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">MYOB\u2019s invoicing<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"arrow-wrapper\"><div class=\"arrow-list\"><ul><li><strong>A <\/strong>dedicated field for customer PO numbers.<\/li><li><strong>An<\/strong> activity history that shows when invoices were emailed and viewed.<\/li><li><strong>You<\/strong> can adjust reminder settings from the invoice interface.<\/li><li><strong>You\u2019re<\/strong> alerted to any open quotes for the client you\u2019re invoicing at the time.<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Annoyingly, neither platform lets you easily ask for a deposit payment, or break the invoice total into multiple progress payments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can simply ask for, and record partial payments &#8211; which adjusts the amount outstanding on an invoice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll be able to add your bank details to any invoice you send if you mainly accept direct deposits, but enabling online payments is a simple process on both platforms.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"indent-wrapper\"><div class=\"indented-text\"><span><em>Online payments through a MYOB Business plan gives your customers more options to pay their invoices, which helps save you time chasing what you\u2019re owed.<\/em><\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to debit\/credit cards, digital wallets and PayPal (which Xero enables), MYOB also makes it easy to offer BPAY and automatically include a QR code on invoices that are exported as a PDF or printed &#8211;
