So when Secretlab contacted me to review their Titan Evo NanoGen gaming chair, I initially declined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gamer image isn&#8217;t exactly what I&#8217;m going for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But then I took a closer look &#8211; and reconsidered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, the <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow noindex\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Secretlab Titan\" href=\"https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/recommends\/secretlab-titan\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Titan Evo NanoGen<\/a> is a gaming chair. Classic Secretlab stuff.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only available in minimalist black and white (no garish Pok\u00e9mon colour schemes, thank God), it offers ultra-soft upholstery and a sculpted look that maybe &#8211; just maybe &#8211; could not look out of place in a home office of a married 45-year-old guy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover,  I had the same hesitation when I <a href=\"https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/secretlab-magnus-pro-standing-desk-review\/\">reviewed Secretlab&#8217;s Magnus Pro standing desk<\/a> &#8211; but walked away seriously impressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I decided to suspend my scepticism and find out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><thead><tr><th class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><strong>Pros<\/strong><\/th><th class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><strong>Cons<\/strong><\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><strong>Ultra-Comfortable<\/strong>. Oh man. The Evo Nanogen feels nice to lower yourself into.<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><strong>Big, bulky and very &#8216;gamer&#8217;.<\/strong> Doesn&#8217;t shake off the gamer vibe. Young guys will love this. Older guys, not so much.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><strong>Surprisingly good ergonomics. <\/strong>It won&#8217;t win ergonomics awards, but it does well compared to <a href=\"https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/best-ergonomic-office-chair\/\">the best ergonomic office chairs in Australia<\/a>.<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><strong>Disappointing lumbar.<\/strong> Doesn&#8217;t support the S-curve of your spine in the same way as office chairs do.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reasons To Buy The Secretlab TITAN Evo NanoGen Chair.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The NanoGen\u2019s pure black (or white) leatherette material makes a statement. It&#8217;s certainly not a chair that&#8217;s designed to blend in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every single part of the chair is blacked (or whited) out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"indent-wrapper\"><div class=\"indented-text\"><span>It\u2019s sleek. Bold. Unapologetic.<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>I love the exposed stitching &#8211; it&#8217;s a nice nod to seats you see in expensive Porsches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The leatherette, meanwhile, is ultra-soft and reminds me of an (expensive) aniline couch I bought many years ago. Yes, it&#8217;s fake leather, but visually it&#8217;s impossible to tell apart from the real thing (unless you&#8217;re some sort of leather expert, which I most certainly am not).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"indent-wrapper\"><div class=\"indented-text\"><span>But it does have an issue that I&#8217;ll discuss below.<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>By the way, I glossed over the assembly, so let me come back to it. Use the booklet instead &#8211; you&#8217;ll make less mistakes and work faster.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was relieved to find armrests pre-attached, as this is one of the clunkiest steps when assembling an office chair. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking of armrests, if you read my chair reviews regularly, you&#8217;ll know that I&#8217;m a harsh marker. I hate almost all of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"indent-wrapper\"><div class=\"indented-text\"><span>(<a href=\"https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/herman-miller-aeron-office-chair-review\/\">Herman Miller Aeron<\/a> still has the best ones &#8211; in case you&#8217;re wondering).<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>But the Titan Evo&#8217;s are not far behind. It&#8217;s definitely on the firmer side, but it&#8217;s not a deal-breaker. You get a deliciously smooth rocking motion.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They don&#8217;t realise that firmness is a good sign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the Titan was more plush, it&#8217;d be even more likely to trap heat (which is the issue I need to talk to you about) &#8211; and make you sweat &#8220;down under&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"indent-wrapper\"><div class=\"indented-text\"><span>Not a good thing during a hot Australian summer.<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The seat is unapologetically a bucket. As is the backrest. It doesn&#8217;t flex at all, so you&#8217;re locked &#8211; as you are in an Aeron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But unlike the Aeron, the NanoGen Evo has soft side bolsters, so you are free to give yourself hip issues by sitting with one leg tucked under.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"865\" src=\"https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/secretlab-chair-review-13-1024x865.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-123063\" srcset=\"https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/secretlab-chair-review-13-1024x865.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/secretlab-chair-review-13-300x253.jpg 300w, https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/secretlab-chair-review-13-768x649.jpg 768w, https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/secretlab-chair-review-13.jpg 1229w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Above: The bucket seat and sculpted bolsters give you a nicely cossetted feeling.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The recline function of the Titan Evo NanoGen is brilliant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most mid-range office chairs use a synchro-tilt mechanism, but the Evo opted for a knee-tilt. The result is a wonderfully rocky motion that not only reclines &#8211; but sinks back and down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Again, the gold standard for a smooth, rocky recline is the venerable Aeron &#8211; and the Evo gives it a great run for its money. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"indent-wrapper\"><div class=\"indented-text\"><span>Build quality is excellent. <\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>I haven&#8217;t noticed any noticeable creaks or wobbles, and the chair feels like it&#8217;s been forged from premium materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Forums say that creaks can develop over time &#8211; especially in the lumbar &#8211; but I can\u2019t speak to that (I&#8217;ve only had the chair for two weeks before writing the review).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-create-block-tip-block tip-wrapper\"><div class=\"row\"><div class=\"col-md-12\"><div class=\"card-wrapper\"><div class=\"card-title\"><div class=\"icon\"><svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" width=\"20\" height=\"20\" viewBox=\"0 0 20 20\" fill=\"none\"><path fill-rule=\"evenodd\" clip-rule=\"evenodd\" d=\"M7.5 14.33a5 5 0 1 1 5 0v4.17h-5v-4.17Zm4.25-1.3-.75.44V17H9v-3.53l-.75-.44a3.5 3.5 0 1 1 3.5 0Z\" fill=\"#656E83\"><\/path><path d=\"M9.25 1v2h1.5V1h-1.5ZM5.53 4.47l-1.5-1.5-1.06 1.06 1.5 1.5 1.06-1.06ZM15.53 5.53l1.5-1.5-1.06-1.06-1.5 1.5 1.06 1.06ZM1 10.75h2v-1.5H1v1.5ZM17 10.75h2v-1.5h-2v1.5Z\" fill=\"#656E83\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><h3 placeholder=\"Tip Title Goes Here\"><strong>Did You Know?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div><div class=\"card-content\"><p placeholder=\"Tip Content Goes Here\">There are a handful of companies that partner with Secretlab to let you try out their TITAN Evo chairs in-person before you buy, based in Sydney, Melbourne, regional Victoria and Launceston.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reasons To Avoid The Secretlab TITAN Evo NanoGen Chair.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Coming in at just over a grand, the Titan Evo NanoGen chair isn\u2019t cheap.&nbsp;And I don&#8217;t love that I have to pay $100 extra for an XL. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"indent-wrapper\"><div class=\"indented-text\"><span>A tall person tax? Really?<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>You also get a good range of accessories, but the costs stack up quickly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"865\" src=\"https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/secretlab-chair-review-9-1024x865.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-123069\" srcset=\"https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/secretlab-chair-review-9-1024x865.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/secretlab-chair-review-9-300x253.jpg 300w, https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/secretlab-chair-review-9-768x649.jpg 768w, https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/secretlab-chair-review-9.jpg 1229w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Above: The headrest pillow attaches using magnets, and is surprisingly useful<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A memory foam footrest is $109, while the recliner add-on will set you back around $300. Your total cost can start nudging $2,000 if you&#8217;re not careful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s why it\u2019s disappointing that the chair is backed by a 3-year warranty as standard (it can be extended to 5 years if you boast about your purchase online).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"indent-wrapper\"><div class=\"indented-text\"><span>And don&#8217;t be fooled by the 49-day return period. <\/span><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll need to pay for return shipping, which &#8211; because the Evo is a heavy and bulky beast &#8211; will cost you a kidney (budget at least $200 around Sydney and Melbourne metro areas).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And because the chair comes with an ungodly amount of packaging, I guarantee you won\u2019t keep it for 49 days anyway.
