Create A Power Summary For Each Role.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Let me share with you a secret trick used by top resume writers to increase the impact of your role descriptions. Consider this achievement for a Director of Sales for a large online e-commerce retailer:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3><em>&#8220;Achieved 110% to annual sales target in 2016.&#8221;<\/em><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Does this impress you? Do you want to hire this person on the spot? Here\u2019s what I\u2019m thinking:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Who<\/strong> cares? Wasn\u2019t 2016 a good year for online retail, anyway?<\/li>\n<li><strong>How<\/strong> did this brand perform that year compared with their main competitors?<\/li>\n<li><strong>How<\/strong> did they perform the year before, under the previous Sales Director?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In other words, this method of phasing achievements raises more questions than answers.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-62178\" src=\"https:\/\/arielle.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/professional-resume-writing.jpg\" alt=\"professional resume writing\" width=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"blog-post-spacer\"><\/div>\n<p>To make your achievements stand out, I suggest that you use a method called <strong><em>ARTA (Achieved Result By Taking Action)<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Taking the above example, and rewriting it to have more impact using the <strong><em>ARTA<\/em><\/strong> method, we get:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3><em>&#8220;Delivered 110% to 2016 sales target<\/em> <strong>[Achieved Result]<\/strong> <em>by developing a new-to-company strategy to target the underdeveloped Gen Y market<\/em> <strong>[by Taking Action]<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>PRO TIP<\/strong>: I&#8217;ve published a detailed guide that will help you write outstanding resume achievements. Don&#8217;t List Every Job You&#8217;ve Had.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>I understand the desire to include your entire work history on your resume.
