Undergoes shoulder surgery Yoshida underwent surgery on Oct. 3 to repair a labral tear in his right shoulder, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Impact The Red Sox did not release any other details in regards to a recovery timetable for Yoshida, so his potential readiness for spring training isn't clear. Yoshida slashed .280/.349/.415 with 10 home runs over 108 games for Boston this season as its full-time designated hitter.
