Rogers Will Continue as Husky Starting QB for Friday's UCLA Game Taking any mystery out of how he will use his quarterbacks going forward, University of Washington coach Jedd Fisch said senior Will Rogers...
3 DAYS AGO • SI.COM
Will remain in starting role Rogers will remain the starting quarterback for Washington against UCLA on Friday, Andy Yamashita of The Seattle Times reports.
Impact Rogers was 10-for-13 passing for 59 yards and one interception during Saturday's 35-6 defeat to Penn State, a game in which he was benched during the second half in favor of Demond Williams. However, head coach Jedd Fisch told media Monday that he's going to stick with Rogers under center despite his recent struggles. The senior quarterback has completed 97 of his 143 passes for 989 yards, three scores and five interceptions over his last five games.
3 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Benched during blowout loss Rogers was 10-for-13 passing for 59 yards and one interception during Saturday's 35-6 defeat to Penn State.
Impact Rogers couldn't make anything happen against Penn State's dominant defense, mustering a season-low in yards per attempt (4.5). The Huskies thus replaced the fifth-year signal-caller in the second half, putting change-of-pace quarterback Demond Williams in for the rest of the game. The true freshman went 6-for-10 passing for 60 yards and logged 10 carries for 38 more yards. Head coach Jedd Fisch said postgame that he expects Rogers to retain the starting job moving forward. However, there's little reason to expect that he'll be overly productive over the team's final two games. After committing just one turnover through the first five games, Rogers has thrown five interceptions and lost one fumble over the last five games. He'll likely need to show some improvements to come away with a win against a resurgent UCLA squad this coming Saturday. However, it's unlikely that he'll be able to make much of an impact no matter his performance in the regular-season finale versus Oregon.

Throws 39 passes versus USC Rogers completed 25 of 39 passes for 262 yards during Saturday's 26-21 victory against USC.
Impact Rogers logged a season-high in passing attempts, but his overall production was limited. The Mississippi State transfer logged a season-low in completion percentage (64.1) as well as his second-lowest yards per attempt (6.7). Rogers also did not throw a touchdown pass for the second week in a row, and he's now averaged 1.2 passing touchdowns to 0.7 interceptions per game across six conference contests. He'll face his toughest test since Week 7 at Iowa when the Huskies travel to Penn State this coming Saturday.
NOVEMBER 3 • ROTOWIRE
Throws two picks versus Hoosiers Rogers completed 19 of 26 passes for 202 yards and two interceptions during Saturday's 31-17 defeat versus Indiana. He also had five rushes for -21 yards.
Impact Rogers' recent turnover issue continued into Saturday's marquee matchup. The fifth-year senior threw two interceptions to the Hoosiers' standout defensive back D'Angelo Ponds, including one that was returned 67 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter. This was also Rogers' first game without a touchdown this season, though he had averaged just 1.6 passing touchdowns across the five games leading into Saturday's loss. Meanwhile, QB2 Demond Williams came in for an eight-yard rushing touchdown early in the second half. Rogers remained in the game until the very end and it doesn't seem likely that he's in jeopardy of losing his starting job anytime soon. But, Williams' regular presence as a change-of-pace quarterback pretty clearly cuts into the overall opportunities for Rogers. The latter will look to clean up the mistake while leading a much cleaner passing operation during this coming Saturday's home game versus USC.
OCTOBER 27 • ROTOWIRE
Swalled up versus Iowa Rogers was 22-for-34 passing for 195 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Saturday's 40-16 defeat to Iowa. He also had five rushes for -15 yards.
Impact Rogers started strong with a five-yard touchdown pass to his go-to wide receiver Denzel Boston that tied the game early in the second quarter. But, the fifth-year signal-caller then opened the second half with an interception in Iowa territory. He was in the game for just two more offensive series before backup Demond Williams took over under after Iowa went up 37-10 early in the fourth quarter. Rogers has been a very consistent passer this season and had not thrown an interception until last week's win versus Michigan. Therefore, there's no reason to think that he won't be the starter moving forward while Williams continues to work in as a change-of-pace rushing threat at quarterback. Washington will have a bye week to regroup before heading back on the road to face Indiana on Saturday, Oct. 26.

Throws two touchdowns in win Rogers completed 21 of 31 passes for 271 yards, two touchdowns and one interception during Saturday's 27-17 win versus Michigan.
Impact Rogers threw two passing touchdowns for the thid week in a row, but this time he did it against one of the best defenses in the country. The fifth-year senior once again honed in on his top-two wideouts, completing nine of 17 passing attempts to Denzel Boston and Giles Jackson, including touchdown passes of three and 16 yards in the first half. However, Rogers also threw his first interception as the Huskies' starting quarterback, ending a streak of 269 consecutive passing attempts without a pick. Rogers has now completed 73.6 percent of his passes for 1,625 yards and a career-best 9.1 yards per attempt. He's not quite on pace for the same production as his 2021 and 2022 campaigns, but his efficiency lends plenty of confidence that his numbers will hold up moving forward in conference play. He'll face another tough test during next week's road game at Iowa.
OCTOBER 6 • ROTOWIRE
Throws for 306 yards in loss Rogers was 26-for-36 passing for 306 yards and two touchdowns during Friday's 21-18 defeat against Rutgers.
Impact Rogers and the Huskies offense came up short again despite throwing for over 300 yards for the second time in three weeks. The redshirt senior continued to spread the ball around among the Huskies' top-three wideouts with Denzel Boston, Giles Jackson and Jeremiah Hunter combining for 19 catches on 27 targets. Rogers' connection with Boston has been particularly productive this season, as the two hooked up for their sixth and seventh touchdowns of the year Friday. Through five games, the Mississippi State transfer is averaging career highs in completion percentage (74.8) and yards per attempt (9.2), including back-to-back productive games against Big Ten opponents. He'll now likely face his two toughest opposing defenses of the season with a home game against Michigan followed by another road matchup with Iowa over the next two weeks.
SEPTEMBER 29 • ROTOWIRE
Bounces back against Northwestern Rogers completed 20 of 28 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 24-5 victory over Northwestern. He also had seven rushes for 17 yards.
Impact Rogers had a little bit of a get-right game after he and the Huskies offense was held to just one touchdown last week versus Washignton State. The Mississippi State transfer continued his strong connection with 6-foot-4 wideout Denzel Boston, as these two linked up for touchdowns of 46 and 13 yards Saturday. Rogers had a couple lowlights with his first fumble of the season in the third quarter after taking a safety on an intentional grounding penalty in the second quarter. Nevertheless, Rogers continued to show why he'll likely finish as one of the Big Ten's most productive signal-caller this season, as he's completed 75.7 percent of his passes for 1,048 yards and eight touchdowns through the first four games. The Huskies will face a much tougher conference opponent when they travel to Rutgers this coming Friday.
SEPTEMBER 22 • ROTOWIRE
Remains productive in rivalry loss Rogers was 23-for-31 passing for 314 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 24-19 loss to Washington State. He also had six rushes for -11 yards.
Impact Rogers tossed his sixth passing touchdown of the season with a 31-yard completion to wideout Giles Jackson in the first quarter. However, the Huskies offense then had to settle for firled gols on three trips inside the opposing 25-yard line, which ultimately cost them in this nip-and-tuck loss. This included when Rogers just missed senior tight end Keleki Latu for another touchdown pass late in the second quarter. The fifth-year quarterback has been a great point guard this season, espcially when targeting his top-two targets in Jackson and Denzel Boston, as these two caught 16 of 19 combined targets for 220 yards on Saturday. Washington head coach continued to work in true freshman quarterback Demond Williams as a change-of-pace quarterback on Saturday, logging three completions on four passing attempts. This modest snap share shouldn't pose any significant threat to Rogers' starting job moving forward though. The Huskies will look to bounce back next Saturday when they open conference play at home versus Northwestern.

Throws four touchdowns Saturday Rogers completed 21 of 26 passes for 261 yards and four touchdowns during Saturday's 30-9 victory versus Eastern Michigan.
Impact Rogers remained highly efficient for the second week in a row to begin his Washington career. The fifth-year senior's results were very similar to Week 1, as he once again threw 26 passes. What's more encouraging is that he spread the ball around to different receivers Saturday, including five completions for 72 yards and a touchdown to Cal transfer Jeremiah Hunter, who had got just two targets last week. He also continued to feed wideout Denzel Boston in the red zone, connecting for touchdowns of 13 and one yard late in the second quarter. While Rogers has not been forced to press in any games yet this season, his early rapport with new teammates is an encouraging sign for this passing game going forward. The Huskies will face their first true trest of the season this coming Saturday versus bitter in-state rival Washigton State.

Will Rogers passes for 4 TDs, Washington routs Eastern Michigan 30-9

SEPTEMBER 7 • ASSOCIATED PRESS
Solid in Washington debut Rogers was 20-for-26 passing for 250 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 35-3 win versus Weber State.
Impact Rogers did all that was asked of him in this comfortable win for the Huskies. The fifth-year senior showed a clear connection with top wideouts Giles Jackson and Denzel Boston, as these two combined for 16 catcheso (19 targets) for 174 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Arizona transfer running back Jonah Coleman starred with 16 carries for 127 yards and three touchdowns. This group is expected to form the core of what is otherwise a rather unproven Washington offense following the program's sinificant roster turnover this offseason. It will be worth monitoring if Rogers spreads the ball around more during next Saturday's game versus Easter Michigan.

Primed to start season Rogers is expected to start for Washington's season opener against Weber State, Tim Booth of Associated Press reports.
Impact After four seasons with Mississippi State, Rogers will finish out his collegiate career with Washington. With no surprise, he'll start the season under center as the Huskies bring out a very new team in the 2024 campaign. The 6-foot-2 pass disher will have California transfer receiver Jeremiah Hunter as his likely top option in the passing game, along with Washington returnee pass catchers Giles Jackson and Denzel Boston.
